4 Year Old

Welcome to New Mexico Pre-K!

New Mexico Pre-K is a voluntary program funded by the state of New Mexico. The PreK program began in 2005 to ensure that every child in New Mexico has the opportunity to attend a high-quality early childhood education program before going to kindergarten. The Roswell Independent School District PreK program was established at the Parkview Early Literacy Center and has since grown to include nine neighborhood schools. Research shows a high-quality PreK program is a crucial first step in preparing children for educational success. At the Roswell Independent School District, we are committed to high-quality early childhood learning adhering to researched-based, best practice instruction. All classes are taught in an inclusive setting and available to every four-year-old student, as space allows.

RISD PreK Program Guidelines

  • Any child who is four-years old before September 1st of the current school year is eligible to attend the RISD PreK program.

  • If a child is already five-years old on September 1st, they do not qualify for PreK. They are kindergarten eligible.

  • Registration is advertised through various sources and held every Spring. On-going registration will be held if PreK sites are not full.

  • A waiting list will be started if the PreK site is full. If there are openings, families on the waitlist will be called or allowed to attend another site.

  • Up-to-date immunizations and health information is required. Health screening forms are given during registration.

  • Meals and snacks are provided for children, adhering to the USDA School Lunch Program guidelines.
